Abstract: This interview presents a conversation with Researcher Xin Jin, winner of the 2024 “CCF-IEEE CS Young Computer Scientist Award”. It reviews his academic development in system software research and discusses how he identifies important research problems in rapidly evolving technology landscapes. The interview shows how he approaches these problems from the perspective of resource management. He introduces his work on large-scale distributed resource management, integrated network-storage-compute system design, and system optimization for large model workloads. He also shares his experience in connecting academic research with industrial practice. In addition, the interview discusses how to cultivate students’ scientific research capabilities and the important role of CCF in the growth of young scholars.
