Abstract: DeepSeek is a rising artificial intelligence(AI) star from China. Leveraging advanced technology, powerful computing capabilities, and global open-source resources, it plays a significant role in the global AI ecosystem. This article outlines the opportunities and challenges for DeepSeek. First, it discusses DeepSeek's development direction and the difficulties it faces, mainly related to computational efficiency, privacy and data security risks, cross-modal understanding, as well as model generalization and versatility. Secondly, the opportunities and prospects brought by DeepSeek are elaborated. Its open-source model has not only attracted an influx of global development resources, fostering an integrated ecosystem of “research, education, and enterprise”, but also directly driven the precise application and rapid commercialization of the technology in vertical fields such as healthcare, education, and finance. Finally, specific recommendations are given to address the current challenges faced by DeepSeek, aiming to leverage its strengths and expand its influence; seeking new architectural breakthroughs alongside technological and model improvements, while actively exploring and collaborating on standardization and global compliance issues. The hope is that the outcomes achieved through DeepSeek will help AI applications achieve better, fairer, and more widely shared results, enhance commercial value, and promote a healthy “ecosystem”.
