Abstract
As the process of intelligence continues to accelerate, intelligent systems such as smart robots, unmanned systems, industrial internet, internet of vehicles, and artificial intelligence large models are gradually leading a new round of transformation in social production and life. The three foundational pillars of intelligent systems, information technology (IT), communication technology (CT), and operation technology (OT) are exhibiting a trend of deep convergence. This integration is key to overcoming theoretical bottlenecks and application challenges in intelligent systems. In 2014, the Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences took the lead in organizing the “International Symposium on the Convergence of Communication Networks and Computational Science”, which had a profound impact both domestically and internationally. In 2019, the symposium was renamed the “International Symposium on the Convergence of Information, Communication and Operation Science”. In 2024, the 11th symposium, led by Academician Ping Zhang from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, focused on the deep convergence of operation, information, and communication technology (OICT), with the theme of “Cross-Enabling of Information, Communication and Operation: Building the Foundation for Intelligent New-Generation Productivity”. The symposium further explored how OICT can promote the development of intelligent productivity. This article analyzes and summarizes some of the novel viewpoints and insights presented at the symposium, aiming to stimulate discussion and attract more scholars' attention to the deep integration of OICT in intelligent systems, and explore its potential in driving new-generation productivity.
